CHILDREN FROM BOYACA VICTIMS OF MINING INDUSTRY

By felix posada | project leader

Children from mining areas in Boyacá are victims of the depredations committed by the coal mining industry on water, soil, forests, and fauna of these regions. The air they breathe is polluted by the burning of coal in the forests and the dust released by coal mines. Almost all of them have skin affected by pollution; they suffer from gastrointestinal diseases and chronic dental damage due to contamination of the water they drink.

Children aware of this situation have produced videos in which they denounce the mining industry and its accomplices in the State who have allowed these dangerous situations for the life of the communities to continue within the greatest legal impunity.

Children have dedicated themselves to planting plants and flowers in their school as a practical way of showing their commitment to defending the environment.
