Dear conservationist enthusiasts from around the world,
We are thrilled to share the exciting progress your support has made possible! Thanks to your generous donations, we have taken significant strides in encouraging Botswana’s future environmental stewards. We were able to hire, train, and equip a new teacher to join our EfA team. We are excited to welcome Ms. Kemoneetswe "Kay" Mphanyane to our EfA family.
Kay, who comes from the small village of Moreomaoto, just a stone's throw from our research camp, is passionate about wildlife and education. She is settling into her new role as our Education Officer and is already making an impact. Kay has been shadowing our experienced team to familiarize herself with the EfA curriculum and culture, and she is eager to bring her knowledge and enthusiasm to her community.
With Kay’s help, we recently taught students in the Boteti region on STEM topics such as mapping, animal migrations, and the scientific process of developing and carrying out research projects. These interactive sessions not only expand students' knowledge of the environment but also spark curiosity about conservation, science, and the natural world around them.
We are excited to expand our reach through our Environmental Education Clubs, which aim to engage even more rural children in environmental learning. Your donations are directly contributing to these efforts, helping us foster a deep connection between young people and their environment, equipping them with the skills to become the conservation leaders of tomorrow.
Here are a few words from Kay herself about the role your support has helped her take on:
"My name is Kemoneetswe Mphanyane, and I serve as the Education Officer for Elephants for Africa. I have always been passionate about community work, education, and wildlife. My role allows me to merge wildlife conservation with education to reach local children, especially those living in areas like my home village of Moreomaoto, surrounded by wild animals. I also provide tutoring and engage with students through interactive lessons, games, and positive reinforcement. My goal is to educate children about the environment and help them see the opportunities that wildlife offers. I enjoy my role immensely, especially the chance to interact with students, attend workshops, and contribute to their learning experiences."*
We are deeply grateful for your continued support, which allows us to build a future where Botswana’s youth grow up with a passion for conservation and a strong connection to their environment. With your help, we will continue to educate and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
Thank you for being an essential part of our journey!
Warm regards,
The Elephants for Africa Team
