6th Quarterly Report CSAG Footprint Books for Kids Org #68120

Summary: Our effort continues both with providing used books and trying to help CSAG in its effort to build a new library. In 2019 a detailed design was provided to CSAG along with drawings and a list of needed materials. This application is pending approval at the Japanese Embassy and the Covid19 disaster has not helped it progress. In the interim a temporary library facility was found and is being outfitted for the kids use. To date two shipments of 2200 books each (4400 books) have been sent and received. A 3d shipment of an additional 2200 books is pending.

1. CSAG 3d Shipment Status; Fall of 2021 – Books for Africa again confirmed its willingness to send pallets of books to Ghana; this is a great benefit for all involved. The fall of 2021 is the target date for the next shipment. Two pallets are again planned. Fund raising has already started and Footprints has 52% of the funds needed to ship. More is required and efforts will be redoubled to get this done. A shout out to both GlobalGiving and Benevity for all their great help.
2. TEMP Library Books for Kids Ghana - The current schoolhouse has been outgrown and the new library is not available yet. In anticipation of additional books and in need of a larger facility, a temporary building has been located.
   
   The temporary building is now abandoned but is being occupied and prepared to be used as a library and classroom. This will provide more room for the students as well as being able to store the books we are sending. Funding for this effort is extra to and in addition to the shipment of books…lots to do and more to think about…please help.
3. From Russia with Love; for Books - Footprints is not alone in helping CSAG. A volunteer from Russia was available this past year. A teacher by training she was able to connect with the students using our books.  This was a great opportunity for the kids to be exposed to different teaching methods. We were very happy to see the smiles on the kids faces, the books in their hands and the assistance that came from so far away. Footprints does not support this effort directly, but its books are used by volunteers to teach the common language to them all; English. So, what we do makes a bigger impact than you think.
   
   
4. Japanese Embassy Library Application; Status - More can be done and more will be done. The new Library application process with the Japanese embassy should start again. The Covid19 pandemic is easing and we are now in phase 2 of a five step approval process. Meanwhile the temporary building can be used. This will allow more room for teaching and storing books. With your generous support additional books can be sent. With the help of the Japanese embassy a new library can be built. Let’s all work together to get this done.
