Literacy Classes & Books for Afghan Women & Girls

By Shehab Yacoobi | Project Manager

Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) continues to expand access to education through its literacy classes, providing women and girls with the opportunity to develop essential reading, writing, and numeracy skills. These classes serve learners who were previously unable to attend school due to conflict, economic hardship, or educational restrictions. By creating safe and supportive learning environments, AIL helps students build confidence, improve communication skills, and gain the knowledge needed to participate more fully in their families and communities.

The impact of these literacy programs extends well beyond the classroom. As participants become literate, they are better equipped to support their children's education, access healthcare information, manage household finances, and pursue income-generating opportunities. Thanks to the continued generosity of our donors, AIL is empowering individuals with the foundational skills that foster self-reliance, resilience, and long-term community development.
