Sadly since our last Report our project leader (Barry Evetts) died in December 2014. His funeral and thanksgiving service was very inspiring with stories of the continuing work of the literacycharity (www.bookreliefuk.org.uk) he founded in 2006 including this project. I (John Carvosso) have been with him in BRUK since 2007 and have taken over as project leader for this Global Giving project.
I have already posted some 'photos and an interim report about the current books which we have sent out to a school in Rwanda. They were donated by a primary school in Sheffield and we had them shipped out direct from there to Kigali. Mrs. Deri Rundle of the Rundle Trust (www.davidrundletrust.co.uk) is out in Rwanda at the moment and hopes to collect the books very shortly to take directly to the Rwandan school(s).
I hope to post some photos of their reception by the school(s) shortly.
Our charity is having to move out of its current bookshop in Appledore, Devon by the end of the month and relocate to a new shop in Bideford. As part of this move we are sorting out books to go to another charity partner in Exeter, Devon (www.book-cycle.org) for onward transmission to other African schools. We shall be sharing the cost of the shipping container load .
