In many parts of Nigeria, maternal mortality remains high due to complications during childbirth that require immediate access to blood. This project will establish blood banks that are well-stocked and ready to provide life-saving blood for mothers in emergency situations. We'll ensure that expectant mothers, their families, and hospitals have our contact information for immediate blood requests, free of charge. This project will help reduce maternal deaths and timely medical interventions.
Too many women in Nigeria die during childbirth because hospitals can't access safe blood in time. In rural and low-resource areas, blood is either unavailable, too expensive, or delayed due to lack of storage and transport. Without quick access to blood, women facing heavy bleeding or other complications are at high risk of death, even when the hospital is just nearby. According to the WHO, severe bleeding is one of the leading causes of maternal death in Nigeria.
We will set up fully functional blood banks that will provide free, safe blood for mothers facing emergencies during childbirth. We will work with hospitals and local health workers to make sure they can quickly reach out to us when blood is needed. We will also share our contact details with expectant mothers and health centres so they know where to turn during an emergency. This way, no mother has to die because blood wasn't available on time.
This project can help reduce maternal deaths caused by bleeding during childbirth, especially in places where blood is hard to find. With better access to safe blood, hospitals will be more prepared for emergencies, and families won't have to scramble for donations in critical moments. The project will also support regular blood drives to keep the supply steady and encourage community participation in saving lives.
