Equipment for BUTA- Bali Blind Sport Games

Our supporters and you as previous donors, have, in the past enabled Yayasan Damai Olahraga Bali to support disabled athletes in Bali by your generosity.  Now Yayasan Damai Olahraga Bali is looking to buy sports equipment to train our vision impaired athletes in the lead up to the inaugural BUTA- Bali Blind Games in 2016 g (BUTA being the Indonesian word for Blind).  Sporting opportunities for those with vision impairment in Bali and East Indonesia is very limited, and in some instances, non-existent.  Yayasan Damai Olahraga Bali provides many of the only opportunities available for those with any level of vision impairment to participate in sport. To see any person with vision impairment change from a shy quiet person to an outgoing confident individual due to their participation in sport is something everyone should have the opportunity to see and we at Yayasan Damai Olahraga Bali are both humbled and inspired by what our athletes have achieved.

In order for those participating in programs to have an opportunity to showcase what they have learnt and how far they have come Yayasan Damai Olahraga will introduce to Bali, and Indonesia, the first Blind Games (BUTA) in 2016.  These games will be an opportunity for athletes from Indonesia to compete against others from around the region - South East Asia and Oceania.

For this to become a reality and an annual event we need to purchase much needed equipment, not only to train our athletes, but to ensure correct equipment is available when the BUTA comes around. Unfortunately much of the equipment needed is not available in Indonesia and must be sourced from Europe, USA or Australia which adds additional costs.  We would be eternally grateful for your support in helping us reach our goal to provide the vision impaired athletes in Indonesia with equipment that will give the opportunity to compete on a level playing field to those of other countries.

The BUTA will give athletes the opportunity to compete in the following sports:

  1. Soccer
  2. Judo
  3. Powerlifting
  4. Swimming
  5. Table Tennis
  6. Chess
  7. Goalball

Please become a champion of the Vision Impaired Athletes of Bali, tell your family and friends and help change the lives of someone who otherwise may not have this opportunity.
