On Alert and In Preparation for Need
The Rainy season has arrived and this year the north-eastern parts of Thailand has been affected. This region that is usually known for being dry, has not seen flooding in many years. According to the local newspaper, BangkokPost, the economic damanges caused by the numerous flash floods to about 36 provinces, has not been great, as most of the region are farmland. Nonetheless, the government is preparing relief aids for farmers.
As the floods slowly subside from the Isan (or north-east )regions, it would be expected that the rain clouds would start moving southwards, as is the usual pathway for Thailand.
Another factor that accompanies the rains and floods, would be that these same areas would see a drop in temperature, when the cold weather descends in the months of November through February.
Thus the Foundation is on the alert for needs for emergency food supply, if the rains affect larger population in the towns and cities, and also is prepaing for donations of warm clothings, knitted caps and blankets, when the cold weather comes.
Saeng, who is our volunteer in the province of Pisanulok, said "the flood in my area has not been significant so far, and I will certain alert the Foundation when need arises"
Meanwhile our contacts in some region of Isan have not reported any immediate needs, but the Foundation is poised for action should help be required.
The Foundation thanks all donors who have been partners with us in our endeavor to bring relief to sufferring, and pleads with you for continued support so that we would have the funds and resources ready at all times, as these get depleted very quickly once crises happen.
Best regards
Vena
