Preparing for the Cold Season
The rainy season is supposed to be about over, and so the Foundation is preparing for the cold, which happened to arrive earlier than usual.
Even in the capital city of Bangkok, where the weather generally remains mostly hot, even though the rest of the country, especially in the central all the way to the north, the weather has cooled down to 25 degrees celsious in some mornings.
We received news from some volunteers in the northern provinces of Chiangmai and Chiangrai, that the climate has cooled down significantly, especially for those living in the highlands.
When this happens, the locals there tend to use firewood to warm themselves, sometimes resulting in fires, burns and deaths when accidents happen.
Therefore, our Foundation has decided to seek for donations to help with the purchase of blankets especially for those in the highlands, during the foeseeable cold weather, during Decembeer through Feburary.
Some donations has started coming in, and we have gotten hold of thick blankets, ready to send to the provinces of Chiangmai and Chiangrai for the needy children there.
Ajan Maew, from Doi Saket and Khru Nid from Doi Chang, both are school administrators of the local schools where hill-tribe and needy children are under their care.
Ajan Maew said, "About half the children studying here are placed in nearby dormitories because their homes are in the highlands, where schools are few. They would need help to keep warm during the cold weather."
Khru Nid confirmed,"The weather up in Doi Chang is already getting cold, espcially for the elderly and the young. It would be wonderful for them to have a warm place to lie down during the cold wintery nights here, where temperature has already falleen to 14 degrees Celsius in recent nights."
The Foundation thanks all who have been so generous in your giving, to provide a warm enviornment for the needy recepients.
May you be richly blessed, as you have been a blessing to others!.. have a Merry Christmas!
