The Woes of Calamities but the Wonders of Charity
Flooding has affected more than 200,000 households in 31 provinces when the tropical storm Dianmu ravaged over the provinces in the North, Northeast and Central Plains.
A total of 6,335 villages in 190 districts were left awash by floods that affected 227,470 households, as reported by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.
In the province of Phisanuloke and district of Wangthong, the annual floods saw more families affected and for longer, especially with the wall of the river embankment broke with a 7 metre gap, causing floods into homes and agricultural lands.
When the flooding occurred, our local volunteer, Saengchan alerted us to the problems that the locals faced.
She wasted no time to gather information of adversely affected families, went to shop for the dried, canned foods and bags of rice. She spent her spare time from her vocation as a community nurse to personally deliver the necessities, through mud and flooded waters.
"Please help us thank the Foundation for Life and their donors who help us yearly when we face floods. My family and I are so thankful for this timely aid when we need it most", says a local recipient in Wangthong.
Indeed, these families are not financially able to move from near the banks of the river to higher grounds, but this act of charity toward them help cheer them along the way.
The Foundation is thus conveying these words of thanks from the recipient to you donors, as indeed you have turned the woes of their calamities into wonder and gratitude, for the works of charity extended to them.
May you be richly blessed as you have blessed us in Thailand.
Have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
From all of us at the Foundation of Life.
