It's A Matter of Life and Death
If you have been following the 'COVID-19' story in the internet, you might know that the situation in Thailand has seen incredible increases of COVID infections starting from the month of April and has now reach epic levels for the country. Since beginning of August the daily numbers has reached the 20 thousands and has not been coming down much, with predictions by the government that daily numbers may even double in the next month, the fear that has been instilled in the citizens, has caused many to find alternative ways of prevention and cures because the means to get to a local hospital or vaccines has become inaccessible due to the overload and shortages .
It has been a relief that in the recent months, news of severe flooding due to tropical storms or cyclones are not many (only 1 affecting the northern region). It would have been worse if there was because this is the season for the rains, and it would have worsen the COVID situation, causing more distress.
A doctor who was describing the dire COVID situation in Thailand that has also caused great economic troubles in the country, said, "....the people will either die of COVID-19 or die of hunger!" It was heart breaking for all to hear that, so the Foundation did all she could to help relieve the stress, by garnering volunteers and willing donors to distribute prepared meals, masks, sanitizers to affected communities especially to those who were put on home isolation and to the clusters that were affected, to as to provide immediate help to the most needful.
A resident in DinDaeng cluster was known to have said, "We are a family of 10 who live in this small flat, and already 7 of us have been tested to be positive and are not able to be separated from the rest of the family who are still well, because all the field hospitals are full!"
As the government and volunteer organisations scramble to help people with COVID testing, getting queues for doctor consultation and admission into field hospitals. the infections continue to increase, lockdowns are placed and the daily-waged workers struggle to find a job.
The situtation has become a Matter of Life and Death
We are grateful to all partners, who join in our efforts to bring some relief to COVID-19 victms as well as those at high risk areas. Do keep the Thais in your prayers and any amount that you are able to spare for the less fortunate is greatly appreciated!
Yours truly
