The Storms are Brewing
IN recent days and in the news, we have seen and hear of winds, storms, typhoons and hurricanes that are brewing all over the world.
Thailand too saw the Sinlaku storm pass through the land, which brought much destruction to 1,400 homes and farmlands in the provinces from the north to the northeast which included Nan, Uttradit, Lampang, Phayao, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Loei, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Nakhon Phanom, even to Ranong in the south.
With the COVID situation still being a pandemic at this time, movements and interactions has to be carried out with caution, even though the infection rates has been well controlled in Thailand.
The Foundation has been trying to bring relief to those affected by the COVID situation and we were only able to reach out to those in the city, due to the lockdown, limiting travel across provinces.
As the rainy season has started, which usually lasts throughout the months of July to October in the northern and central parts of Thailand, slowly moving down to the southern Thailand from November to January, the Foundation is on the lookout for the underprivileged and needy people whom we can reach, whilst seeking to prepare our "resources" that we can deploy when the need arises.
As such we do implore all donors to consider if there maybe any "small change" that you can spare to help those who are badly affected with no roof over their heads.
Due to the fact that the source of certain rivers, eg Mekong River has its source in China, and in recent months water levels at the dams upstream are at dangerously high levels, the National Water Administration of Thai government is closely monitoring the water situation in China, as it can have devastating effects to countries downstream, like Thailand.
The Foundation thanks you for your partnership and looks forward to your continued support.
Do take care!
