Joule Black Mentoring is one of the pioneer programs of mentorship in Brazil designed to empower black lives. With 1:1 mentoring and coaching sessions supported by a life skills pathway, we match black mentors of several professional backgrounds, from all over the country, with black youth from 16 to 35 years old for an empowering journey! Besides mentorship and black networking, we provide psychological therapy group meetings, exclusive workshops related to hard skills/social emotional skills.
In Brazil, there are more than 11 million young people who neither work nor study. Of the 26.8 million underemployed persons in Brazil, 17.6 million (65.8%) are blacks or browns. In the third quarter of 2017, blacks or browns represented 54.9% of the Brazilian population aged 14 or over and were 53% of the employed workers of the country. The unrepresented communities are the more affected by unemployment and lack of education.
Our solution for this is to run an inclusion program designed by black people to black people, connecting tools, human resources, opportunities, companies and jobs to prioritize black population in leadership positions. Mentoring is a powerful resource. The impact is fast and permanent. We have been working with mentoring to people for more than 10 years. When we connect black leaders to provide coaching to black youth from low income and vulnerable areas in Brazil, we provide real change.
- More inclusion for a country full of diversity - More Black students finishing graduation at Brazilian Universities - More Black Leaders in the top of companies and job market - Reducing the number of youth unemployment and out of education - More Black Ambassadors for Black Education and Employability
