BizzyBox Lending Project

Carers Network's unique BizzyBox Lending Project has now been supporting unpaid carers in central London for nearly 3 years!

As well as providing carers with the opportunity to borrow for free activity items that they can enjoy with their loved ones, and to also attend coffee mornings and social events to meet and spend time with fellow carers, the project has enabled Carers Network to work in partnership with other local organisations.

These have included both the Museum of Brands and Resonate Arts.

Resonate Arts offers a range of arts projects and creative opportunities for people living with dementia, their carers, family members and supporters.

Recently one of their Creative Befrienders borrowed a BizzyBox Lending Project comfort pet to introduce to a client who is both blind and living with dementia. The lady likes cats, and after initial reluctance started to engage with the kitten. She allowed the Creative Befriender to put the kitten on the duvet so she could sense its weight/presence through the duvet. 

The Befriender is going to borrow the kitten again when the weather gets warmer as they think the comfort pet will be a good way to encourage the lady to take her hands out from her duvet when she is lying down and to engage in a sensory experience.
