This project will help us further develop and promote the first bitcoin crowdfunding website in Europe, in service only non-profit organizations (NPOs). Bitcoin is slowly disrupting the charity sphere and BitHope.org wants to be at the forefront of that process. With bitcoin initiating international donations is easy, quick, cheap and transparent. Through BitHope.org, small-size NPOs can receive an additional and global source of funding and attract worldwide attention to their campaigns
A large number of small-size NPOs exist in any country. They are primarily composed of volunteers, who are devoting their time and funds to help a cause they associate with. Their impact is quantitatively small, but utterly meaningful for the subject(s) of their efforts (children, animals, the environment). These NPOs usually do not have access to a large number of donors, especially international ones and are not skilled in effectively marketing their campaigns.
BitHope.org provides NPOs the opportunity to receive funding from a global, constantly growing community of people, prone to donate small bitcoins to worthy causes. This is, to a large extend, due to the advantages of Bitcoin technology. Bitcoin donations are quick, easy, global, with very low or no transfer fees, anonymous and transparent. Moreover, using BitHope.org, NPOs do not have to themselves secure or exchange bitcoins for national currency. This is a service that we provide them with.
Bitcoin and Blockchain technology have significant potential to transform the charity sphere in the coming years. For the first time smaller NPOs will have access to a world of donors, who donate peer-to-peer, without paying high transfer fees or leaving any sensitive information. A Bitcoin address is similar to a "public IBAN" - anyone can send funds and anyone can check its balance at any time. The information cannot be altered in any way. This takes financial transparency to a new level.
