HOME VISITS
During this quarter, door to door consultations or home visits have been carried out in four districts of Zimbabwe. In these districts during this quarter, Trinity Project officers have managed to visit 500 parents or carers, who were consulted on issues of birth certificates, parental death certificates, inheritance and property rights. 755 cases were received, of which 418 were females and 337 were males.
LEGAL ADVICE CLINICS
21 legal advice clinics have been held in the last quarter, which reached 216 parents and carers. 300 cases have been received (166 females and 134males).
OFFICE DROP IN
Trinity Project offers consultations at their office, giving advice on birth and death registration, and issues to do with inheritance and property rights. 154 parents and carers attended consultations last quarter, and 248 new cases of birth certificates were received. These new cases were referred by the government, partner organisations, schools and CPCS, showing Trinity’s wide reach and strong community relations.
CHILD PARTICIPATION
Trinity Project is participating in local kids’ clubs. Kids’ clubs give a platform that encourages child participation, teaching children the importance of early birth registration and birth certificates. These clubs offer a range of activities, such as football, volleyball, netball, drama and art. Trinity Project hope these clubs will grow, developing tomorrow’s community out of these children.
The clubs work with children ranging from 5 years to 18 years. So far continuous attendance is at 6,271 children, working with 6 kids’ clubs. The Project’s target is 16 kids’ clubs, with one for each of the 16 wards in which we operate. However, a lack of resources to use with children at the clubs are limiting the successful realisation of this objective.
SENSITISATION MEETINGS
Trinity ran 9 awareness sessions for teachers and 36 sensitisation meetings for children, reaching 898 people across all districts. These meetings taught the importance of a birth certificate. Trinity ran 11 community group meetings, reaching 2,883 people. Our officers attended 9 stakeholder meetings facilitated by other organisations and partners.
