Help us empower the next cohort of storytellers

By Maaman Rezaee | Grants Manager

Dear Donors,

We are thrilled to share exciting updates from our BIPOC Sci-Fi Screenwriting Lab, a program that uplifts and empowers storytellers of color to imagine new futures through science fiction and fantasy.

This past August our most recent cohort celebrated their hard work with a live table read of original pilot scripts. Over the course of the program, fellows developed their stories through lectures, one-on-one mentorship, and peer collaboration. At the culminating table read, professional actors brought their words and stories to life, offering fellows the chance to hear their scripts aloud and receive constructive industry feedback. For many, it was the first time their work had been read in a professional setting, a powerful milestone in their artistic journey. Industry professionals and art enthusiasts attended this table read from all around the world, including as far as Canada and Nigeria.

We are equally excited to announce that this October Justice for My Sister will facilitate its sixth BIPOC Sci-Fi Screenwriting Lab cohort!. The momentum reflects both the demand for safe, supportive spaces for BIPOC storytellers and the vital role Justice for My Sister plays in the film & TV sector, reshaping who has access to tell important stories in Hollywood. Our fellows are building their craft while creating narratives that center liberation and resilience.

Your support makes this possible. By donating, you help us continue to provide mentorship, industry connections, and public showcases for our fellows. Together, we are ensuring that the next generation of screenwriters can thrive, and that the stories shaping our culture reflect the richness of our communities.

Head to our donation page to increase your impact today and help us support more storytellers in 2025 and beyond.

With gratitude,
Justice for My Sister
