One example of how our work can change on any given day is the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck Southern Haiti on August 14, 2021 at 8:29 am, destroying much of the region's infrastructure and straining healthcare facilities. Within the hour, BHI's team mobilized, working with partners on the ground to provide assessments, assistance, and relief. BHI's ability to quickly and efficiently respond to crises like this one and save lives is dependent on the generosity of our donors.

Sustainability is an integral and intentional part of each project BHI designs, builds, and equips. Of the the 60+ infrastructure projects BHI completed in Haiti since 2010, none sustained significant damage from the 2021 earthquake. BHI not only builds sustainable healthcare infrastructure, we build capacity by training and employing local staff to provide jobs and ensure that the 200+ healthcare facilities we've worked on in 28+ countries can be maintained in the long-run.
