On May 20 2018, beYoureyeS and "Krankin’ thru China" joined together to hold a running race. Visually impaired runner, wheelchair runner and unimpaired runners as a group, to run a 6km race @Shanghai Xuhui Huangpu Riverside. After the race, there is a “picture hunting” game, let unimpaired runner wear blindfold, or sit on the wheelchair to feel and understand each other’s world.
We named the activity “The Ability Run”.
No matter cannot see-able, walk-able, or speak-able (there are foreigners who cannot speak Chinese), or culture barriers, when we run together, there is no barriers. We hope everyone, no matter they face the physical, psychological or verbal or cultural barriers, can have fun and happy.
We hope in such a friendly and equitable sports environment, the activity can raise the awareness of the needs of people who are physically impaired unable to benefit from sports and other community activities. Let more and more people to pay attention to the needs of people with disabilities, to build better facilities, provide reasonable accommodation, etc.
No for majority, not for minority, we hope “Everyone can enjoy the pleasure of sports equally”. To achieve this, there is still a long way to go. Come with us.
Ps: We got information from global giving operation team:
“Due to the recent China Foreign NGO Law, GlobalGiving is pausing all due diligence reviews for China-based organizations until GlobalGiving gains its official China registration that will allow us to continue our work in China.”
Well… if you cannot receive our reports in the near future, please understand we are still there, sometimes the world is sucks, but still worth to live and fight. Running is a long way to go, like Marathon, like Triathlon, we need patience and endurance.
Hope to see you all soon.
Have a good day!
Annie
