The 2026 Home-Start Romania season officially launched in March with a volunteer recruitment campaign, supported by a promotional poster shared on Facebook and Instagram. At the same time, our dedicated staff met with students from the Sociology and Social Work specialization at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Craiova, to present the work of Adina Stiftelsen Romania and the volunteering opportunities available through Home-Start.
Following the application and selection process, seven new volunteers were enrolled in the program. In April, they successfully completed the 20-hour Home-Start training course led by the Home-Start Coordinator.
At the same time, families were selected based on referrals from the Town Halls of Simnicu de Sus, Goiesti, and Farcas. Following social assessments, 11 families were enrolled in the program—eight continuing from previous years and three newly admitted. Two Social Work students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Craiova, also supported this process, contributing a total of 24 volunteer hours.
Between 1 May and 30 June, the Home-Start program was supported by 11 volunteers—seven newly trained and four returning volunteers—who together contributed 464 volunteer hours and carried out 81 home visits.
The volunteers shared that they were very satisfied with the matching process, reporting that they established positive relationships with their assigned families from the very first visit. They also appreciated the opportunity to connect with one another, exchanging experiences and supporting each other throughout their volunteering journey.
The 11 families currently participating in the program include 43 children, of whom 23 are preschool-aged. The guidance, encouragement, and practical support that Home-Start volunteers provide to parents play a vital role in creating a strong foundation for these children's future education and development.
Thank you for your support. Your donations make it possible for us to give vulnerable children and their families a better start in life.
With gratitude,
Luminita Dinca
