Health education is a vital part of AIL’s health program. Education changes behaviour which prevents illness, injury and facilitates safe birthing, proper nutrition and consequently improves lives.

AIL runs comprehensive 5-day Reproductive Health workshops for women. Most recently workshops were held for 100 women under the age of forty in Bamyan Province. Important topics are taught in these workshops including: introduction to fertility health, the importance of proper nutrition, prenatal care, safe delivery and post- partum care.

Care during pregnancy includes the role of proper nutrition, vitamins and its impact on maternal health, appropriate exercise and activities during pregnancy, stress and coping solutions. All of this is key to maintaining physical and mental health during pregnancy.  Women learn what to expect in pregnancy, the importance of spacing births and problems in delivery as well as normal delivery.

Health education is also given to all visitors to clinics, in Learning Centers and schools and through AIL trained teachers. In addition regular health programs are provided on TV and Radio Meraj.

Education is the key to breaking the cycle of ill health that plagues many families.
