In May, AIL held two Reproductive Health Workshops for 79 women in Panjshir Province. The women were aged from 18 to 57. The workshops cover preventive healthcare, pregnancy and birth, first 1,000 days of life, health education, nutrition, vaccines, breast feeding, drugs and hygiene. AIL helps the women attend by providing money for transportation.

Here is one woman’s story of how the workshop experience made a difference to her family.  “I have 3 children and one of my children is very thin. We went to the doctor a number of times but unfortunately he could not gain his health. I went to this workshop and learned interesting things about the first thousand days of life, nutrition, hygiene and healthy food menus.  I realized that my children had malnutrition. After the workshop I planned to give healthy food to my child to combat his malnutrition. I hope this kind of seminar is held again in our province.”

Proper healthcare and health information education help women to stay healthy, survive childbirth and raise healthy children with proper nutrition.
