Best Friends Animal Society's mission is to bring about a time when there are No More Homeless Pets. At the heart of our work is the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the nation's largest no-kill safe haven for displaced, homeless, or unwanted animals. This extraordinary place covers 3,700 acres located in Angel Canyon, Utah. This refuge, like none other, is a place of redemption for pets and wildlife moments away from death. Animals, no matter how forsaken and sick, find hope at the sanctuary.
Animals arrive from shelters and rescue groups all across the country to the Sanctuary for special care. Many just need a few weeks of special care before they are ready to go to good new homes with loving families. Others that have endured extreme trauma or require additional medical care can find a home at the Sanctuary. They are given the love and support they deserve for the rest of their lives. On any given day, the Sanctuary is home to about 1,700 dogs, cats, and other animals.
At the largest no-kill animal sanctuary, animals-regardless of illness or handicap-can live out their lives in peace. Animals are given the opportunity to be rehabilitated back to good health and fostered until they are adopted. The Sanctuary has a full service clinic and programs tailored to meet their unique needs. Most are ready to go to new homes after just a few weeks. A few, with special needs, find a home and haven at the sanctuary, and are given loving care for the rest of their lives.
The Sanctuary will continue to provide services to homeless animals that deserve a chance at a happy, healthy life. Best Friends is dedicated to the welfare of animals and will not rest until the over 4 million animals that are killed in shelters each year is reduced to zero. Funding can provide support for our expert staff to provide for the special physical and/or behavioral needs of each animal. Together, we can bring about a time when there are "No More Homeless Pets".
