Belt Up 4 Climate 2Day

EXTRA ORDINARY AWARENESS

In our exercise of creating awareness to our local community on climate change, C4HDI together with our volunteers and stakeholders embarked on the use of public address system (PAX) to educate residents. We made announcements at strategic places in our community. We educate our locals by telling them the reasons and explanations of the changes they notice in weather, seasonal rainfalls and dry seasons. We explained that the irregularities they notice in these seasons is a cause of climate change. We cited the example of the huge floods in many parts of our community lately as a result of irregular heavy downpours that persisted till later part of October last year. This was irregular because in August of every year, there is a break in rainfalls, commonly known as the "August Break". But there was no such break last year.

WE WERE WELCOME!

Visiting a tough area in our community by first seeking permission from the Vigilante Group of the area, we were asked questions about the things and the aim of such awareness in the area, our secretary answered them efficiently describing each reason and it's usefulness to the community. The group not only granted us permission but also offered us crates of soft drinks and biscuits for our light refreshments during the campaign. Infact, they went further to announce our coming on a particular date. At this C4HDI was appreciative and valued our work the more.

A DONOR SPOKE TO ALL.

During our announcements and education exercises on climate change in one district, the Chairman of the Residents Association asked for permission to speak with our public address system PAX, we granted him the permission. He was well enlightened about climate change as he gave feasible and physical examples of climate change. At the end of his valuable talk, he donated the sum of $300 USD in support of our project. Besides this, he pledged to donate some nursery trees to be planted on his behalf. We could hear the clapping of hands and shouts from the surrounding houses eventhough it was at night once he made this announcements. C4HDI appreciated his kind gesture and thanked him immensely. We invited to our office to get more familiar with him and possibly, he shall become an active member or a volunteer to our project.

ROUNDING OFF FOR THE MONTH.

As the month was at it's last week, we began to prepare our various reports on the project. We checked out our performance indicators, we analyzed data and booked for our meeting.
From our analysis, we discovered that we have to continue with the awareness campaign to cover 60% of our local community.We continued with the search for a good organization that shall produce seedlings of different trees and shrubs.
