Introduction                                                                                                            

This report presents the progress made on the project, “Beekeeping Initiative” between the month of September 2024 to January 2025  at the Palpa Project site of PA Nepal. The main focus was on providing essential support to the Beekeeping Initiative Project. Out of the 42 available hives, only 15 currently house bees. The remaining hives are  empty, mainly due to wild hornets attacks from nearby forests and harsh weather  conditions which contributed to hive disruptions

`        This funding allowed us to address some of the basic and urgent needs of Beekeeping Initiative Projects

 Allocation of Funds                                                                                                   The disbursed amount was thoughtfully allocated to address the most pressing needs of the Project particularly providing food for the bees during this reporting period.

Challenges                                                                                                              

During September-January, the Beekeeping Initiative faced challenges primarily due external factors such as insect attacks from nearby wild forests and harsh weatherconditions.

 Impact                                                                                                                   

Children’sWell-being:

Receiving organic honey from the  Beekeeping Initiative  has positively impacted the children’s health, and  supported  to their uninterrupted access to education.

CommunitySupport:Strong support from the local community, which helps us maintain the day-to-day operations andcareforthechildren.

Plan for the next months                                                                                            

• Hive Repopulation: Focus on filling all 42 hives with healthy bee colonies.
• Continued Monitoring: Regular health checks for the existing hives and newly repopulated ones.
• New Additions: Depending on hive stability, we may consider expanding the hive count in upcoming months.

Weremainhopefulfor continued donations through GlobalGiving, which will allow ustobetter address  theneedsofthe Beekeeping Initiative  This initiative aims to enhance  the wellbeing of the children in our organizational care. Additionalfundingwouldenableustocover morecomprehensiveneeds  and expand the impact of our effort

 Conclusion                                                                                                              

Despitethechallenges posed by theweather condition and external factors likewild hornet attacks from nearby forests, the Beekeeping Initiative has shown resilience. Out of the 42 hives, 15 remain still active, and we are hopeful  that the remaining hives will be repopulated in coming months if conditions improve. Regular monitoring and protective measures are in place to safeguard the hives from further insect attacks. Moving forward, the focus will be on repopulating the hives, maintaining hive health, and eventually expand once things are stable.

The Beekeeping Initiative in Tansen Municipality-8, Palpa, has been dedicated to training local residents in beekeeping practices, aiming to promote sustainable livelihoods within the community. In September 2024, a disbursement of $20 was allocated to purchase essential beekeeping equipment, which is critical for establishing productive hives. However, the initiative has faced significant challenges, such as the ongoing rainy season and limited resources, which have hindered outreach efforts and the timely implementation of training sessions. Despite these obstacles, the project has made meaningful progress in enhancing local incomes through honey production and raising environmental awareness. Looking forward, it is crucial to secure increased funding to support expanded training programs and enhance community engagement, ensuring the initiative’s continued success and sustainability.
