Rebuilding After The Storm

By Katy Downey | Volunteer

As the term runs to an end, BeeHive School can look back on this term very proudly. This term was one of the most intense terms of BeeHive's history. Some wonderful things and one terrible thing happened this term. The term started off on a very high note - the new computer lab opened, teacher training on the computer lab was a success and the lab is a wonderful addition to the school. In October, an enormous storm struck the school, ripped the roof off one of the buildings and damaged a large portion of the school, including the library and computer lab. Since then, wonderful donations of support have started to come in, and the school has started to recover.

The headmaster and staff has worked very hard minimizing the impact of the damaged school on the children. They worked tirlessly to clean up the damage and reopened the school just two days after the storm. The library and computer lab remained closed, but the students were able to attend class. The students do miss the closed library and computer lab but have continued to work hard and learn with the resources they have in their classrooms. They even performed a play last Friday for the end of the term.

Construction has already started to repair and rebuild the damage. This would not have been possible without the kind donations from everyone around the world.

BeeHive School's parents, teachers, students and supporters should be very proud - even after a terrible storm the children are still learning, playing and thriving!
