St. Michael Primary School, founded in 1999 in Gulshan-e-Ibrahim Colony, Mirpurkhas, has long served disadvantaged children. After COVID-19, floods, and extreme heatwaves, the weak economy left many parents unable to pay fees, forcing children out of class. The school urgently needs support to continue providing education to these children.
Parents are struggling to meet even their basic household expenses. Rising unemployment and inflation have made it increasingly difficult for them to afford school fees and stationery. As a result, many children are leaving school and taking part-time jobs in small workshops to help cover household costs such as electricity bills and groceries.
We propose installing a solar power system, providing a clean water filtration unit, and supporting the principal's two-year salary. Reducing these administrative burdens will ease financial pressure, give the children a healthier learning environment, ensure stable leadership, and strengthen the school's long-term sustainability.
The Society for Minor's Protection & Development (SMPD) has taken the initiative to engage with the school administration, recognizing the urgent need to support this institution before the damage becomes irreversible. SMPD believes that with targeted intervention and sustainable planning, St. Michael Primary School can regain its strength and continue to serve as a beacon of hope for the families in Gulshan e Ibrahim Colony.
