For more than 35 years, Migrant Clinicians Network (MCN) has advanced the pursuit of health justice for migrant and mobile populations. With the effects of the global pandemic stretching into a second year, our work has never been so necessary. This is why we at MCN have an ambitious goal--to bring in $15,000 through Giving Tuesday. Courtesy of an ambitious awareness campaign, we have nearly half that amount promised in matching funds. Will you join us by becoming a fundraising champion today?
Though there are currently more than 3 million migrant farmworkers located in the United States, it is estimated that only about a third receive needed medical care. Considerable research acknowledges a connection between the limited accessibility of health care services among such vulnerable populations, and the increased risk of poor health outcomes in the communities in which they live and work. MCN believes that these workers, and the communities to which they belong, deserve better.
MCN provides support services, technical assistance, and professional development to clinicians at health care delivery sites across the US. To do so, we face some of the toughest challenges in the country: access to health care, COVID-19, poverty, social determinants of health, migration, climate change. But we don't back down. We strategize, we push to remove systemic racism, and we save lives. Contributing to our project means increasing our ability to work towards health justice.
Out of a belief that communities deserve better, MCN has assisted countless frontline clinicians in serving migrant and mobile populations. To fund this vital work, we rely on the generosity of grassroots contributions. This year, we have a unique opportunity to triple our impact through a match fund! Every dollar donated will be matched by our generous match donors up to $9,500. GlobalGiving is also offering a match opportunity of up to $2,500 for monthly donations arranged Tuesday, Nov. 30.
