Dreams do come true

Dear Friends and supporters,

"My granddaughter, Irene,  is the joy of my life. I raised her with high expectations and ensured she finished her primary education without glitches. Last year she completed her 8th grade and outdid herself as the top student in her school and division. We received the news with lots of excitement but deep down i was confused and in a state of panic. The situation in my country, Kenya, is that the wait time to receive an admission letter for secondary school takes about a month or less. While waiting, I began thinking about raising her school’s fees and her other needs for boarding school. Raising Irene on my own has been challenging. Her single mother, who is my daughter works at a nearby village as a domestic worker and barely makes enough to feed her other children. Mfariji Africa has been working in our community for 4 years and immediately reached out and offered her a secondary school scholarship. I was even more surprised when they showed me a video of my granddaughter speaking in one of their events distributing sanitary pads to keep girls in school.

Mfariji Africa has changed not just the life of my granddaughter but my whole family as well and generated a new hope in the community. Thank you for supporting their work. Any penny donated to Mfariji Africa counts for my granddaughter’s education." ~ Mr. Nzoka (Irenes granfather)

On other news, our founder spent a week in a conference in Washington D.C which culminated into a lobby day at capitol hill. She met with Delaware congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester and aides in Senator Chris Coons' Office and Senator Thomas Carper's office. The main agenda was to ask them to support funding for Global Partnership for Education (GPE) .GPE is the only international partnership exclusively dedicated to education in the poorest countries worldwide and makes education a reality for more children by supporting developing countries to build strong education systems’.GPE will be gathering donor governments, developing country partners, and philanthropic and private sector donors to pledge funds to fulfill an ambitious three-year plan to support an additional 19 million children complete primary school and 6.6 million children complete lower secondary school. The U.S. must continue to support GPE so that all children are given the opportunity to unlock their potential through education.
