Communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo continue to face serious public health risks from Ebola, cholera, and mpox, compounded by conflict, displacement, limited access to essential services, unsafe water, and misinformation. Our project was created to strengthen community-based prevention and help vulnerable families access reliable health information and essential protection measures. With a total project budget of $180,000, we are currently in the preparation and resource-mobilization phase. To date, $0 has been raised, and we are working to mobilize the resources needed to launch the planned activities.
The project will focus on three priorities: strengthening community-based disease surveillance and contact tracing, improving water, sanitation and hygiene conditions in displacement-affected communities, and supporting targeted mpox prevention and vaccination efforts in coordination with relevant health authorities. Local health teams will also be trained to provide clear, culturally appropriate risk communication and address misinformation. At present, we are identifying qualified trainers and participants who will take part in the capacity-building activities. Implementation will begin as soon as the necessary resources are secured.
The expected impact goes beyond responding to individual outbreaks. By strengthening local teams, improving access to safe water and sanitation, and building trusted channels for health information, the project aims to leave communities better prepared for future health emergencies. We are deeply grateful to GlobalGiving for providing a platform that connects this initiative with donors around the world and gives us an opportunity to build the support needed to reach our $180,000 goal.
We invite individuals, foundations, companies, and humanitarian partners to stand with communities affected by these health risks. Every contribution can help us move from preparation to action and bring life-saving prevention closer to the people who need it most. To everyone who has supported, shared, or encouraged this project, thank you. With the support of our donors and the opportunities made possible through GlobalGiving, we hope to turn this plan into concrete action and lasting protection for vulnerable communities.
