Challenge

In South London, a third of adults live below the breadline. 10,000 children go to school without breakfast and skip meals in the holidays. 80% of older people regularly miss meals as they are unable to afford food or cannot travel to the shops. The stress of food insecurity has been exacerbated by the Cost of Living Crisis. It is no wonder that 700,000 Londoners feel lonely most, if not all, of the time. With your help, we can alleviate the pain caused by social isolation and food insecurity

Solution

At Be Enriched, food and friendship are at the heart of everything we do. We are supporting existing communities and building new ones, reducing loneliness whilst accessing nutritious food. Our Community Canteens provide a delicious meal, three times a week, plus the chance to socialise. The Food Bus is a mobile greengrocers, serving areas with little access to low cost, fresh produce. Our Kids Clubs provide children with food and fun activities, when schools are closed.

Long-Term Impact

We are #EnrichingCommunities through food and friendship. We now run three Community Canteens and have already served 2,000 three course meals this year. The Food Bus provides access to fresh produce across South London. Our Kids Clubs have given 300 meals to children over the past 18 months. We are planning to grow our services, investing in new ways to increase our reach to communities with limited access to low cost food, while running additional projects that bring more people together
