We are creating equality in poverty and food insecurity by providing free hot meals to those on a low income, elderly or in recovery and teaching people basic cooking skills which they lack. We are reducing social isolation and loneliness by creating safe spaces where people can come together to solve local problems and learn new skills. We are engaging the next generation by providing them with opportunities to create new socially responsible projects and volunteer within the communities.
In England 8 million people wake up each day not knowing where there next meal is coming from. In South London this is as many as 1 in 3 adults, who are living below the breadline. Over 10,000 children wake up each morning and go to school without breakfast and go without meals during the holidays. 79% of elderly people miss meals regularly because they are unable to afford food or are suffering from ill health and can not travel to the shops. They are lonely and excluded. This is where we help
Be Enriched's projects provide a safe place for people to come together, cook and eat. We provide access to healthy food that they otherwise couldn't afford. Our projects are open to the whole of the community, building cohesion and friendship which are the cornerstones of a fruitful and lasting community. Our projects are localised and run in partnership with the community, so we are able to target the people who need help the most. We fill the hunger void and bring people in from the cold
Our projects work with up to 250 each week providing them with a source of free healthy nutritious food, mainly sourced from surplus, which enables many families to eat for the rest of the week. With more funding we can provide these adults with cooking lessons enabling families to eat well for a lifetime. We educate up to 50 teenagers every year equipping them skills to shop economically, sustainably and become healthier adults. With more funding we will reach 150 this year.
