On 20th September 2025, our community came together for a day of solidarity and meaningful impact.More than 1,800 participants joined us in person, walking or running through forest trails to support children with cancer. We also celebrate those who took part virtually, contributing from locations around the globe. Every step taken meant more children accessing treatment, more families finding relief, and more voices joining the call to improve survival rates from the current 2 in 10 to a hopeful 8 in 10.
We were deeply moved by the support received to raise awareness and support for our programmes for children. Thanks to incredible generosity, we raised over over USD 63,000. School fundraising played a remarkable role; together, children and parents raised over US2700 through inspiring initiatives that rallied entire communities behind children with cancer. A special mention to Nairobi International School, which raised USD 9300 and is the school raising the highest amount for the 3rd year running.Among our many supporters, we were grateful to host Aaron Lipschutz, who travelled all the way from Phoenix, Arizona to join us and raised USD10,000. We also celebrate Baraka from Peponi School, who was the highest fundraiser for the third year running.
These funds will help us expand our impact by providing financial assistance to more children and caregivers, launching an education pilot in one of our partner hospitals, and sustaining our Crafts for Cure sessions in art, music, and play at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH), and Shoe4Africa at Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital (MTRH).
We have received very positive comments and reflections from participants during and after the event.
One participant captured the spirit of the day beautifully — describing it as “a wave of kindness flowing through the trails; people walking, running, conquering the challenge with a smile. To see so much joy and generosity for such an important cause was inspiring. Even with the seriousness of cancer, the atmosphere was filled with hope.”
Faraja Cancer Support Trust provides financial support, emotional, practical and healing support to children and their families on their cancer journey. We provide psychosocial support to children with cancer at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Kenyatta University Teaching Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) and The Shoe4Africa Children Hospital within Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).
Every support counts! Your donations are changing the world for the better, one child at a time. And as we look ahead, mark your calendars: we’ll be back next year on 26th September 2026. Visit our website to register your interest.
