Gold September is an annual campaign to raise awareness of childhood cancer. Faraja will have its 4th annual walk/run on Saturday 20th September 2025 at KALRO, Muguga. Your support will directly benefit Crafts for Cure, our Children's programme that provide psychosocial support to children with cancer at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Kenyatta University Teaching Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).
According to the National Cancer Institute of Kenya, only 20% (2in 10) children suffering from cancer in low and middle income countries like Kenya survive, while in developed countries up to 80% survive. The outcomes are dependent on early detection, prompt and adequate treatment. Globally, 400,000 children and adolescents under the age of 19 years develop cancer each year. (WHO)
2025 GOALS: What your support will do *Ensure more young cancer patients receive life-saving treatments through our children support fund. *Enhance our Crafts for Cure (C4C) program-We aim to broaden the reach of our program to include children with limited mobility, increasing participation in art activities by 30%-40%. Additionally, we strive to bridge the academic gap for children admitted with a cancer diagnosis, ensuring they have access to educational support during treatment.
To improve survival and quality of life through timely treatment and psycho social support.
