Gold September is an annual campaign to raise awareness of childhood cancer. Faraja will have its 3rd annual walk/run on Saturday 14th September 2024 at KALRO, Muguga to raise Kshs10million to support its progams for childhood cancer at 2 Government Hospitals, Kenyatta National Hospital and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. Crafts for Cure focuses on the Music, Art, Play and Diversional Therapy. We also conduct Healthcare Professionals Debrief and facilitate Parents Support Group.
According to the National Cancer Institute of Kenya, only 20% (2in 10) children suffering from cancer in low and middle income countries like Kenya survive, while in developed countries up to 80% survive. The outcomes are dependent on early detection, prompt and adequate treatment. Globally, 400,000 children and adolescents under the age of 19 years develop cancer each year. (WHO)
We aim to sustain and expand the reach and scope of our program that provides pscho social support to children with cancer, which is currently at Kenyatta National Hospital and Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital. We will also enhance our medical fund that provides financial assistance for treatment to needy children diagnosed with cancer and unable to complete treatment.
To improve survival and quality of life through timely treatment and psycho social support.
