The Coral Reef Monitoring initiative has strengthened community-led conservation across 13 reef stations in Batangas, Mindoro, and Romblon. The program engaged 413 citizen scientists and reached over 1,100 stakeholders through 14 workshops, empowering communities to actively protect their marine ecosystems.
Advanced mangrove monitoring training was also provided to 27 citizen scientists from the local government units of Barangay Batohan, Pola, Oriental Mindoro, enhancing local capacity to safeguard these vital habitats.
An online dashboard now consolidates data collected by citizen scientists through a Smart Sensor Boat, including water quality, location, and environmental conditions. This enables communities and local governments to make informed decisions for sustainable coastal and marine resource management.
