"The education is the most powerful weapon to change the world" - The student population that attends public schools in Venezuela comes from low-income families. These are children of parents who work as unskilled labor, housewives, domestic workers and unemployed, so buy shoes and clothes isn't in their priorities. They attend classes almost barefoot and this puts them at risk of infection and death from soil- transmitted diseases that enter their bodies through cuts in their unprotected feet.
Half of the students of public school is living in extreme poverty, they simply cannot afford to buy shoes. They play soccer, their way to have fun and get distracted of a strong reality, with their barefoot on hot ground that burns their feet, over sharp rocks and thorns that create cuts which are pathways for infections.
We are proud to know that we have friends who are willing to help the people with more needs to create a world without exclusion. Through this campaign, people from anywhere in the world, will be able to donate shoes for these kids. It's your chance to give hope to many and to keep alive the smile of the Venezuelan children.
Education offers an opportunity for children to escape a lifetime of poverty, drugs, gang violence, and crime. The shoes are more important that they use for play. It's an opportunity to provide continuing annual assistance to the public schools, so that they can graduate, go to work, and begin to break the cycle of poverty within these families.
