Be a Super Friend for our children in Venezuela!

The year is ending and we remain deeply grateful for all the support we have had from you in our campaign, in this way we have been able to make an impact on the health and education of many vulnerable children in Venezuela.

Below we present the most important achievements during the second quarter of this year:

On October 3, classes began 100% in person learning and with a call for 100% of the students. This situation has not been experienced in schools since before the pandemic, so it has been a challenging and exciting start to classes. 1100 students receive their breakfast at school daily, which has guaranteed an average school attendance of more than 90%.
Thanks to your support, we have carried out weight and height sessions for more than 1,000 students and thus be able to take action with children who are outside the appropriate weight or height for their age.
Courses and training have been carried out that have benefited more than 100 teachers and school directors to increase their knowledge and skills in the classroom and even personally.
Every day more than 200 children are benefited in the hospital with nutritional supplements, infant formulas, medicines, food, surgery kit, etc.
62 resident doctors from the Children's Hospital were once again supported with specialization studies in pediatrics in the areas of nephrology, surgery, and pulmonology. They have received scholarships in order to advance their studies and residencies at the institution mentioned above.
The hospital's cleaning standards are as important as the donations to children and doctors themselves. Thanks to your contribution, we have been able to provide the hospital with all the disinfection and cleaning products necessary to keep critical areas such as operating rooms and therapies 100% free of bacteria.
Every day more than 100 doctors and nurses are provided with disposable medical material such as gowns, masks, caps, etc., necessary to carry out their daily tasks.
In the hospitalization area, the children's hospital is provided daily with serums, medicines, injections, material for burns, material for traumatology, nephrology, etc. where 200 hospitalized patients benefit.

Once again we are deeply grateful for your confidence and we hope to be worthy of your donation. We will continue to tirelessly support education in Venezuela and we can only do this thanks to allies like GlobalGiving.

As we come to a close of the second semester this year, we would like to acknowledge and are very grateful for the trust deposited in us and our institution. We are filled with pride and commitment with the Venezuelan children in vulnerable situations.

Your continued support through this platform has been instrumental in order to maintain and grow our operations. Any contribution, no matter how small, allows us to change the life of a child and its family.

Thanks! And continue to trust us to offer better opportunities to the children of Venezuela.

Following are some of the many achievements that would show you the reach of your donations in the past 3 months:

*Over 300 pediatric patients in the hospital benefited from medications, surgeries, nutritional supplements, milk, diapers, laboratory exams and more.

*The totality of the medical staff has received daily donations of medical supplies that are essential for their daily functioning.

*In the Hospital located in Valencia, 62 pediatric residents, pediatric specialists in the areas of nephrology, surgery, and pulmonology, have received scholarships in order to advance their studies and residencies at the institution mentioned above.

*In an effort to stop the massive desertion of all types of personal at the hospital, due to the dire circumstances the country is experiencing, mainly: low salaries and shortages of supplies, many recreational activities were organized involving the medical, as well as the nursing, administrative and service staff.

*Over 400 pregnant women received prenatal vitamins, which results in a higher incidence of healthy term pregnancies and well as healthy newborns.

*It is a well-known fact that the pandemic has caused massive disruptions in terms of education worldwide. But in Venezuela, after 2 years with the schools closed, the incentives to attend are becoming essential, since the desertion indices are greater than 50%. The schools that benefit from our program have received 58,300 complete meals, for children as well as teachers, in the last 3 months alone not only as an incentive to go to school, but also to make sure the child has enough nutrition in order to be able to learn and perform in school.

*Thanks to the donation of water tanks, it was possible to accommodate 100% of the students for the last trimester of the school year in one of the schools that did not receive any water for over a year.

*Various incentive programs were started for teachers, such as leadership and self esteem courses, as well as recreational activities. New projects were structured and presented with the goal of improving the academic level of the schools.

All of this has been possible thanks to the donations of each and everyone of you, moving forward lets keep supporting these children that need us more than ever.

Friends - 2021 Annual Report

For the third year in a row, Friends and its community of partners, supporters, volunteers and donors like you keep the level of performance and impact that not only encourages us all to continue doing more and better but also has given hope and opportunities to thousands of newborns and children, their families, moms-to-be, teachers and health care workers under our programs in Venezuela.

A major THANK YOU and applause for you! Friends is aware of the trust you put in our work and the responsability we have again this 2022 to secure the aid and life opportunities for those still in Venezuela, under deprived, vulnerable conditions.

Enjoy the stories and smiles we share in our report (see link for full access). In the meantime, here are some highlights:

OUR IMPACT

9,847 newborns & children were directly benefited by Friends' program at the pediatric hospital in Valencia-Venezuela.

48,821 cases were treated through the pediatric hospital and the work of Friends providing with all sort of medical supplies and hospital equipment.

+200 health care workers at this hospital are supported on a daily basis, providing them with the conditions and incentives to treat dozens of children, even saving their lives.

+140 women received their daily multiple micronutrient supplements greatly needed during pregnancy and even after giving birth.

+450 teachers and students benefited from Alimentando Futuros' nutritional meals and other incentives.

OUR PERFORMANCE

$693,438 in Total Revenues, a +2% compared to 2020 results.

$577,441 in Total Donations, a +4% versus 2020 and with 64% coming from Monetary Donations (mainly institutional) and decreasing by 16% when compared to 2020.

$210,023 worth of in-Kind Donations, representing 36% of Total Donations and with a +82% growth thanks mainly to our Univision's Donation Drive and our new partnerships with nonprofit organizations such as Orphan Grain Train and Heart to Heart International that supported Friends with large consignments of medical supplies & hospital equipment.

Major levels of efficiency: 98% of all monetary donations were allocated to Friends' mission and its programs, and as in the past, no monetary donation is used for administration expenses which are entirely covered by "Other Contributions" coming from the Board.

2,311 cubic feet of humanitarian aid shipped to Venezuela, a +40% increase in volume compared to 2020.
