Atlanta is the poorest city in the U.S. for children - more children in Atlanta live in poverty than in any other city. Our belief is that the best way to see this change is through education by establishing Velocity to help build a bridge between a failing school system and failing neighborhoods
A Single high school dropout costs our nation $260,000 over the course of their lifetime. In Atlanta the dropout rate is a staggering 51%
We give at-risk youth the power and skills to become life-changing mentors. Students in danger of dropping out are instead equipped to mentor younger students. Both mentors and mentees graduate! We also transform urban slums into flourishing neighborhoods. BWAB team members and volunteers go into poor communities and build relationships, small groups and programs that develop the entire community.
We will mentor 10,500 more young people in the next 5 years that will transform their cities
