Dear Friends and Donors,
Namaste!
We extend warm Holi and Easter Greetings to you and your loved ones from BASS, India!
Thank you so much for your kind continued generous support and partnership over the past 11 academic years. With your able support only we are improving the education opportunities and other facilities to the slum children
In the academic year 2023-24, we continue our Care and Education program with dedication. Our main upper primary school at Dasaripalem slum serves students from 1st to 7th grade. Under the guidance of 6 teachers, 3 helpers, and dedicated cooks, 120 children attend daily. Additionally, two evening learning centres at Swarna Bharathi Nagar slum and Lingayapalem Slum cater to over 70 and 80 children, respectively, with the support of two teachers at each centre.
Our Slum school provides quality education, nutritious meals, and a safe environment for children who lack basic rights and opportunities. These slums have no other education facilities, so we continue to facilitate education for these children.
As the academic year nears its end, students are preparing for their final annual exams in April 2024. Our teachers work diligently to ensure progress, and we hope all children will advance to the next classes. Nineteen students from the main centre will complete 7th grade and transition to other high schools from June 2024. Our teachers will guide their transition to nearby available schools.
The project benefits approximately 275 slum children through one upper primary school and three tuition centres. We provide midday meals to 125 children in our school and evening nutrition snacks to 80 children in our after-school learning centres. Additionally, we supply school uniforms and educational materials to 125 children in our upper primary school.
We also prioritize the health of the children, conducting regular check-ups.
During this quarter (December to March 2024), we received a total of US$ 750 from your generous donations. However, we still need your support to ensure the sustained success of our project.
As we approach the new academic year starting in June 2024 after summer holidays, the children in our care require your support for the following:
Education Material: Procuring new textbooks, notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, crayons, charts, maps, and other learning aids for the 150 slum children.
School Uniforms and Bags: Providing school uniforms and bags for the 150 children attending the slum upper primary school.
Operational Costs: Covering expenses related to running the slum school and tuition centers, including salaries, rent, electricity, water bills, transportation, maintenance, and contingency funds.
We humbly request you to consider supporting these children by providing new educational materials, uniforms, and enabling the continued operation of one slum school and three after-school slum learning centres.
Happy Easter!
With profound gratitude,
