In September 2021, the Bupilo foundation reached an important milestone as we launched the Basizana project, an initiative dedicated to bringing an end to period poverty for girls in underserved communities across Zambia, one school at a time. The year 2021, was an extension of the unprecedented health crisis brought about by the COVID-19 Pandemic, with Governments continuing to uphold lockdown restrictions that would limit outdoor activities.
This led us to launch our fundraising campaign digitally, relying on the generosity of our faithful supporters and donors that helped us successfully raise over $5000 to fund the pilot phase of our project. Thus, leading to the purchase and successful distribution of sustainable menstrual supplies to 150 girls and counting across the western and central provinces of Zambia. As this year comes to an end we continue to remain confident in the work we are doing and the impact we are yet to make in the years to come.
