Over the past three months, the BARAN project has continued uninterrupted rainfall monitoring across northern Afghanistan, with our citizen scientists maintaining daily observations and supporting regular data quality checks. As the project approaches two years of continuous data collection, we have begun preparing a scientific journal paper to share the project's findings with the wider research community. Despite challenges in replacing damaged equipment due to import restrictions and sanctions, our volunteers found local solutions to keep the network operational. We remain committed to sustaining this community-led monitoring effort while working to expand the network and strengthen Afghanistan's climate observation capacity.
