Rotary Foundation aims to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace by improving health, providing quality education improving the environment and alleviating poverty. The Rotary Club of Ballymena aims to raise funds to support the various Foundation initiatives, including polio eradication, being undertaken across the world.
There is an urgent need to encourage conversations to foster understanding within and across various cultures. It is essential to educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life threatening diseases such as Polio, HIV, and Malaria. In addition, problems associated with sanitation and the provision of clean water must be addressed.
Help will be given to train adults and young leaders to prevent and to mediate in conflict situations and to help refugees who have fled dangerous areas. The aim also includes improving and expanding access to free health care. It is important to build up expertise within communities and with educators to ensure sustainable success.
Communities will build up expertise and skills in areas such as provision of clean water, sanitation and hygiene. Greater access to free health care will be available to the poorest regions for generations to come. It is hoped that full eradication of polio in Pakistan can be achieved. More generally, the Rotary Foundation aims to support peace building opportunities across the world.
