Your Journey Begins Here: Enrollment!
July 2026 marks the start of the involvement of a group of young people in the one-year Leadership and Communication Program (LnC) Batch-19 run by the CAMPUHAN College Youth Program, Karuna Bali Foundation. Held in two recruitment rounds, 10 students successfully passed the two stages of the selection process: the written exam and the interview. Beaming faces accompanied their testimonials about how happy they were to have passed the written exam and interview. The journey begins here!
Understanding Your Terms: Handshake & Harmony!
At CAMPUHAN College, we believe that students’ ability to learn and grow is inextricably linked to the role of parents. Schools and parents need to be on the same page right from the start, working together to support and monitor students' learning process. An overview of the learning journey throughout the one-year program and the timeline was provided. All the students who'd been accepted into the One-Year Leadership and Communication Program went to the event with their parents or guardians. The Parent-Student-School Agreement was signed on 28 July 2026. The group of 10 is now officially known as LnC-19 students.
Setting the Stage: Essential Insights from Orientation
All LnC-19 students joined a 1-Day Program Orientation held on 3 August 2026, at CAMPUHAN College. The program got the students and Karuna Bali staff working together on fun activities like sharing, discussion, and co-creating Classroom Rules. It helped students and staff get to know each other, gave students an overview of YKB's existing programs, and helped them understand the general one-year learning curriculum at CAMPUHAN College. As well as teaching the students practical English, computer, and video editing skills in regular classes, the Leadership Class will also offer a series of workshops to help students develop their soft skills.
Core Principles in Action-1: Living Values Education.
Prior to regular classical learning activity, a 3-Day Living Values Education workshop was conducted from 3 to 6 August 2026. It helped students to think about and reflect on different values and the practical implications of expressing them in relation to themselves, others, and their community. It also encouraged them to choose their own personal, social, and spiritual values to deal with life challenges by always remembering to reconnect with the qualities and values they already have. During the academic year, the 12 values from LVE will be integrated into learning activities, with a focus on one value each month. For the first three months, the whole school community will focus on the values of Peace, Respect, and Love.
Growing Together: Dynamic Teambuilding.
All of the LnC-19 students took part in a Team-building Exercise with the whole Karuna Bali staff. The event was held in three places: CAMPUHAN College, the Ubud Traditional Market, and the central field. The students were split into groups and had to complete a series of tasks and games designed to boost their self-confidence and improve their teamwork skills. They were asked to write reflection letters outlining their goals for the year. These letters will be read out at their graduation ceremony in June 2027. At the end of the program, the students showed off their creative side by performing dances, singing, and reading poems for the audience.
Core Principles in Action-2: Compassionate Communication.
Compassionate Communication workshop is a program based on Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg. Taking place from 9 to 10 September 2026, this workshop introduces communication methods that are based on compassion and nonviolence. The aim is to help students understand their own feelings and needs so they can communicate effectively with their peers and family members. By learning how to recognize their needs and express themselves without being judgmental, young people can improve their self-awareness, build stronger relationships with their friends and others, and encourage a culture of mutual respect and understanding during their formative years.
Rhythm of the Day
The LnC-19 students' regular activity includes three program classes: English, Computer, Audio-Video Editing, and Leadership. It all started in the second week of August. Before the classes began, students took a pre-test to see how confident they felt. The results from the pre-test were used to see how the students were adapting to the learning process and how confident they felt. They also provided a reference point for making any necessary adjustments during the one-year program. Students study English every day except Wednesdays. There are two types of classes: The four skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Computer Class is held every Monday and Thursday. The class is about getting to know MS Word. The audio-video editing class is conducted on Tuesdays and Fridays.
