Emergency services on Eleuthera are expanding thanks to the ongoing donor support of the program. With the continued impact of Covid, and the need for medical air evacuations, more ambulance trips have been made than ever before. One family mentioned that they are so grateful to have an ambulance in North Eleuthera now, as it means they do not need to have a sick or injured loved one ride on the back of a pick-up truck to the airport during an emergency.
Another family in Tarpum Bay recently thanked the programme and its donors for being there for them when a derelict structure caught fire and threatened their home. Thankfully, the volunteer firefighters were there within time to save the family’s homestead.
Other recent successes for the program include the hiring of an administrative assistant to support the efficient ongoing management of the program and basic operations such as vehicle servicing and data collection to document the needs in each community.
We are so appreciative of our volunteers at Eleuthera Emergency Partners and for all of you who are keeping this donation-based endeavour running for the community.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
