By Amber Warren | Programs Manager
Hello Friends!
How are you doing? We hope you're having a great day! We'd like to share some updates with you on our project- thanks for tuning in!
The new school year for PIO has commenced and all classes are full staffed. The high school program, while not supported by this initiative, is well established and providing an incentive for elementary students to continue studying and advancing their academic careers.
PIO has a low rate of absenteeism and enrollment remains stable. Thanks to your donations, 650 out of 1,264 have received classes and lunches each school day!
Each month, PIO assesses its students in all subjects and reports the results to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. The pass rates for this quarter are very similar to those in previous years. For the national curriculum subjects (Khmer, Math, Science and Social Studies), the overall pass rate for primary school students was 80%. The pass rate for 6th Grade students was 87%. English test results remain high as well with an average pass rate of 80%. While Grades 1 and 2 faced some challenges, which are being address by the school administrator, we look forward to their improved progress.
The challenge to cover the operating expenses of the school remains as demand is high, a testament to PIO’s quality education program and students’ results. Thank you for your continuing to help PIO, making these results possible, and ensuring that PIO students enjoy the hope of a brighter future through education.
A Special Message from PIO:
“On the occasion of Khmer New Year’s Day 2019, we wish all supporters, donors, visitors and volunteers a happy New Year and may the year bring success, happiness and prosperity. Thank you for your continued support!”
