Children growing up amid war face constant disruption - displacement, damaged or closed schools, power outages, and interrupted routines that make consistent learning difficult. Star for Life Ukraine's Tech Labs offer a stable, safe space where children can continue learning even under these conditions. As the new school year begins, our labs need to be equipped and prepared to welcome children back.
More than 700,000 Ukrainian children have had their education disrupted by war - displacement, damaged schools, repeated shelter time during air raids. Many learn in unstable conditions, with limited equipment and no space to process trauma. Star for Life Ukraine runs 17 Tech Labs serving children in war-affected regions, and demand keeps growing - new labs are needed to reach more children, while existing ones lack the equipment, materials, and backup power to operate reliably.
This grant will equip and expand Star for Life Ukraine's Tech Labs - resourcing existing labs with laptops, STEM kits, and backup power, while helping open new labs to reach children who have none. Qualified instructors run STEM and IT sessions, while psychosocial support helps children process trauma safely alongside peers. By properly resourcing our labs before the school year starts, 700 children will have a stable, functioning space to learn, build skills, and receive support from day one.
Beyond this school year, equipped Tech Labs become a lasting resource - serving new cohorts of children for years to come. Children who build digital skills early are better positioned for future education and employment, even amid ongoing disruption. Consistent psychosocial support helps children build resilience that extends beyond the classroom, giving them tools to cope with hardship long after this project ends.
