Awareness Program to End Human Trafficking

The Awareness Program to End Human Trafficking in Niger State has made steady progress in its community prevention efforts. The project is designed to reach 200 vulnerable families through sensitization workshops, educational materials, and engagement with community leaders and volunteers. During the reporting period, awareness activities engaged parents, young people, and local stakeholders, helping participants better understand trafficking tactics, child protection, safe migration, and how to identify suspicious recruitment opportunities. 

Financially, the project has so far received $136 from 3 donations toward its $5,750 fundraising goal, leaving $5,614 still required to fully implement the planned activities. This represents approximately 2.4% of the total funding target. The limited funding has made donor support particularly important for sustaining workshops, producing educational materials, supporting community volunteers, and reaching additional families. Based on the project budget, $1,000 can support awareness materials, workshops, and community support for approximately 50 families, while $2,500 can support implementation of the six-month program within one community cluster. 

Despite the funding gap, early feedback indicates improved confidence among parents in discussing trafficking risks with their children and making safer decisions about employment and migration opportunities. Continued financial support will be essential to expand the programme, reach the targeted 200 families, and strengthen community-based prevention and reporting mechanisms.
