Project Report | May 31, 2022
May 2022

By Scott Lange | Executive Director

The center has been buzzing lately, as we're at our highest patient load since before the pandemic. We also have a new prospective addition to our ambassador team - Carrie the black vulture. She is still waiting on final approval from U.S. Fish & Wildlife, who have been backlogged with paperwork for some time now, but once it comes she should be a full-fledged (literally) member of the crew. She was rescued from a warehouse where her parents had built a nest. After she was born, she got tangled up in some carpet fiber in the warehouse, and the fibers cut off circulation to her toes. One toe had to be amputated, and since she's missing that toe she would need medical attention to her feet to make sure she didn't develop bumblefoot. She's already got a perch by the intake room window and is greeting visitors every day! So thank you for supporting her care and all our work.
