Thank you for your continued support of our ambassadors! Winter brings its own set of challenges and circumstances at AWARE. Certain animals don't care for the cold temperatures, and move inside for some or all of the winter. For instance, our broad-winged hawks, Delila and Bugsy, spend most of the winter indoors, only going outside for some time in the sun on nice days that get up into the 60s. In the wild, they would avoid the winter cold by flying south for the winter, with some broadwings going as far south as Brazil!
The reptiles don't care for the cold either. Our box turtle, Mary Shelli Frankenstein, and our snakes, Jeffery and Andrew, get extra heating pads and temporary "hot hands" to help them stay comfortable all winter long.
So thanks for making it possible for us to take good care of all these ambassadors until winter passes and spring brings warmth and sun back to AWARE!
