Grace the barking owl receiving around the clock care after undergoing surgery at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.

We're excited to share with you a heartwarming update from the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, showcasing the remarkable story of resilience and recovery that your generous support makes possible.

Recently, our dedicated Rescue Team responded to a call from a local resident who discovered a barking owl lying on their driveway. The owl, affectionately named Grace, was transported to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, where she received immediate medical attention.

Upon examination, our expert veterinary team, led by the skilled Dr. Bert, diagnosed Grace with a mid-diaphyseal ulna closed fracture in her right wing. This was a critical injury that required precise surgical intervention. Dr. Bert undertook the delicate surgery necessary to insert a pin through the elbow into the distal fragment of Grace's wing, ensuring the best possible outcome for her recovery.

We are thrilled to report that the surgery was a complete success. After weeks of careful monitoring and rehabilitation under our care, Grace's bandages were recently removed, revealing a well-healed wing. Each day, she grows stronger and more vibrant, her characteristic barking calls—a unique trait among barking owls that can be heard up to a kilometre away—resonating throughout our facility.

Grace's recovery is not just a testament to her indomitable spirit but also to the impact of your support. Your contributions help us provide the highest level of care to wildlife in need, ensuring that stories like Grace’s have a hopeful ending.

As she continues to recuperate, we look forward to the day when Grace can return to her natural habitat and once again grace the Queensland bayside with her presence. This successful outcome reinforces the importance of our mission and the crucial role you play in it.

Thank you for standing with us and for your continued support of the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of Australia's unique wildlife.
