Devastating floods and landslides are affecting communities across Nepal, including Rasuwa and neighbouring Nuwakot, severely impacting homes, infrastructure and livelihoods. Women and girls face heightened risks during emergencies, including displacement, human trafficking, exploitation and gender based violence. Loss of housing, income, food, transportation and access to essential services can leave women, girls and children particularly vulnerable.
Aura Freedom will work with local staff, trusted partners and volunteers in Nepal to identify urgent needs and provide assistance to vulnerable women, girls, children and families. Support may include emergency food and essential supplies, temporary shelter, transportation, maternal and infant care, and assistance for those facing increased risks of trafficking, exploitation and gender based violence. Our local relationships allow us to respond to community needs quickly and effectively.
Aura Freedom believes humanitarian response should address immediate needs while supporting longer term safety and recovery. By helping women, girls and families access essential resources and protection during this crisis, this project can reduce vulnerability to exploitation and violence and help affected communities begin to recover. Our longstanding work in Nepal also allows us to build on existing relationships and support more resilient communities over time.
